Destiny’s Game

Destiny played a strange game with Qasim Bin Saadat. Since birth, there were number of episodes which anticipated a bright and an outstanding future for Qasim Bin Saadat; a future so short-lived and ephemeral. Qasim was a precocious child who had a meteoric rise and a tragic fall at the hands of destiny; who was intrigued by unique elements, always curious about learning, experimenting with every new item that he came across. To begin, he started speaking even before he was 3 years old, acquiring the ability to speak extremely refined Urdu, using literary terms and phrases albeit with beautifully distorted phonetics. He learnt driving a car (on his own) way before he could reach the foot controls. Since the age of 8, there was hardly a machine he could not handle at home. Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Biology, Rubik’sCube, Chess, Draft, Football, Swimming, his father’s Air Gun – all were games in his hands and mind. Mischief, humor and wit were his glamour signs. Starting his early childhood years in an extremely disciplined and strict household never diminished his pleasant spirit or dampened his morale for more fun and mischief. It was amazing the way he would dodge the many penalties that came his way from his dearest aboo, and yet enjoy life – never holding any grudges against his father as the rest of us normally would.

Qasim! Did destiny play a game with you or did you actually trick destiny by laughing at its devices, which devastated your body allright, but never your memories.
